There are several ways to make money online but I can tell you there is no such thing as "getting rich quick" on the Internet. Let's start with "Google Adsense", Affiliate and Blogs. This is the risk-free and increasingly popular way to get started making money online.

Google Adsense is a form of marketing where you’re paid when someone clicks on an advertisement on your website (you get paid whether they buy or not). Companies that will pay you a percentage of the sale of a product you advertised are known as “Publishers”. You (the advertiser/seller) are known as the “Affiliate”.
Popular & larger affiliate programs like Amazon, Linkshare,Clickbank and Commission Junction.

In layman term, the difference between Affiliate marketing and Google Adsense is ..Affiliate money is made on the sale ( Pay Per Sales) and Google Adsense money is made on the click (Pay Per Click).

Both Google Adsense and affiliate programs present opportunities to monetize the traffic that your site attracts. Deciding which option is best for you depends on the type of site that you have and the niche that you are working in. A large part of internet marketing is a numbers game, and figuring out how to bring in the most income from your traffic in the long term can be tricky. Affiliate programs offer attractive commissions for each sale that you bring in, while Adsense presents the opportunity to make money regardless of whether your site's viewers buy something or not.

Blogs are another kind of website. The content is usually organized by date and category with the most recent post/content displaying first. You can set up a blog for free.
